Duplicating A Job

Duplicating A Job

If your company performs a significant amount of repeat business or has customers who submit pick-up jobs, you may use Job Manager's Duplicate Job feature to copy an existing job defined in the database. The Duplicate Job window is designed to provide an efficient method for duplicating an existing job without having to rebuild the new jobs from scratch with the Job Entry & Edit window. The Duplicate Job window will make a copy of the original job information (excluding the due date and due time) and associate it with a new job number of your choice.

Duplicating an existing job

  1. Click the Jobs tab. The Jobs Home page opens.
  2. Click the Duplicate Job link above the header of the page. The Duplicate Job page opens.

  1. Select an existing Job by using the Job Selector ( ).
  2. Type the job number of the new job you want to create in the Job Number field or type "<auto>" if you want to use Job Manager's auto-numbering capabilities.
  3. OPTIONAL: Check the Duplicate Workflow checkbox if you want to duplicate the existing job's workflow. This will instruct the Job Manager system that the new job being created should take on the same workflow as the existing job.
  4. OPTIONAL: Check the Duplicate Ordered Items checkbox if you want to duplicate the existing job's ordered items. This will instruct the Job Manager system that the new job being created should have the same ordered items as the existing job.
  5. OPTIONAL: Check the Duplicate user-defined fields checkbox if you want to duplicate any user defined fields for the existing job.
  6. OPTIONAL: Check the Duplicate attached documents checkbox if you want to include any documents attached to the original job to the new duplicate job.
  7. Optional: Check the Duplicate Estimate checkbox if you want to duplicate any Estimates linked to the existing Job.

  1. Click Duplicate ( ) or Duplicate and View ( ). Duplicate will duplicate the job and keep the Duplicate page open to allow you to quickly duplicate another job. Duplicate and View will duplicate the job and open the Job Details page for the newly duplicated job.

At this point, the job has been duplicated and is now ready to be edited, reviewed, or worked on by your company's employees. This may be a good time to open the job in the Job's Details page to specify a particular due date, due time, workflow, etc. for the new job.
