Searching with DSM Extension Finds
On systems that use the DSM Extension to Virtual Ticket Developer, searches work as described in “Searching for Information with Finds”+section above. However, such systems will come standard with several predefined Global searches that are not included with standard Virtual Ticket systems. One of the most powerful features of DSM is its search capability. Since information for all files and folders for which digital resources have been created are stored in a central database, DSM Finds are typically much faster than other searches conducted across the network. Additionally, DSM Finds can be conducted across a wide variety of digital resource information not available for searches conducted in the file system. There are two types of Finds that can be used in DSM:

User Finds are created and saved by individual users of DSM. These are only available to the users who created them and can be edited without restriction by the user who create them.
Global Finds are similar to User Finds except that they are available to some or all users. While some Global Finds come with DSM, the Administrator can modify existing Global Finds and create new ones. Furthermore, the Administrator can restrict access to individual Global Finds and can also restrict the ability for users to edit the criteria used within the Find. Please see the Setting Up Global Finds section in the DSM Administration Guide for more information on creating Global Finds.
