Deleting Search Results

Deleting Search Results

Virtual Ticket Developer’s searching features provide an efficient means for deleting information from the database. Prior to deleting information, you should always be sure that the information you are deleting is no longer needed.

WARNING! The deletion of folder records and attached documents cannot be undone.

Deleting search results from the database

1. Create or select a Find from the Tools menu, specify the search criteria, and click SEARCH. This will instruct Virtual Ticket Developer to retrieve the results from the database and display them in the Find window.

2. Click the record(s) you want to delete from the Documents listing along the left side of the window. The information for this record will automatically appear in the right side of the window, in the form on which the search was originally based.

NOTE: If multiple records are selected, the right side of the Find window will remain blank.

3. Click DELETE ( ). A dialog box will appear, asking you to confirm the deletion of the selected records.

4. Click YES to initiate the deletion process, or click NO to cancel the deletion process. When complete, a dialog box will appear, asking you whether you would like to update the result set displayed in the Find window.

WARNING! When a folder record is deleted, all attached documents for that record will also be deleted from the system. The digital resource files associated with the folder and documents will NOT be deleted from the system; however, all reference pointers from the folder/document record to the associated digital resources will be deleted. For more information on the way Virtual Ticket Developer handles digital resource files, please refer to the “Managing Folders And Files” section of the “Working with Digital Resources” chapter of this guide.

5. Click YES to update the information for the result records in the Find window, or click NO if you do not want to display the updated information.
