Global Find Editor Window Details

The Global Find Editor is used by the Administrator to select the form on which the global find is based, define the search condition logic, test the search, define grid results, and set the appearance profile.

Window Objects

Search>

Opens a menu for selecting the form on which the search will be based. When a form is selected, the folder type will be displayed in the Folder/Document Type box and the Form selected will be displayed in the Using Form box.

Folder/Document Type

Displays the Folder/Document Type for the Form on which the Global Find is based.

Using Form

Displays the Form on which the Global Find is based.

Find Mode Selector ( )

Opens a selectable list of available Find Modes. See "About Find Modes" for more details.

Save ( )

Saves the Global Find with the currently defined search condition, display attributes, etc...

Search ( )

Runs the search using the currently defined condition. This is useful for testing search criteria to see what results they will return.

Add/Remove Criterion ( )

Add and remove criterion rows. New criterion rows will be added to the bottom of the list of criteria. Similarly, the bottom criterion row is always removed (when removing criteria).

Hide Criterion Checkbox

When checked, the corresponding criterion will not be displayed when the Global Find is in Normal or Runtime mode. See "About Find Modes" for more details.

And/Or Operators

Changes the boolean operator between "And" and "Or". See "Defining Global Find Search Conditions" for additional details.

All/Root Selector

Toggles the corresponding Referenced By or Not Referenced By condition between "All" and Root". When "All" is used, the referenced condition will be applied to all objects that are referenced directly or indirectly (i.e. placed in a File Board on a Form or belong to any item placed in a File Board on a Form). When "Roots" is used, the referenced condition will be applied only to objects that are directly referenced (i.e. placed in a File Collector on a Form).

Referenced By

Used for selecting a Folder Type/Document Type for which you will define Referenced By conditions. See "Reference Searching" for additional details.

Not Referenced By

Used for selecting a Folder Type/Document Type for which you will define Not Referenced By conditions. See "Reference Searching" for additional details.

Hide/Show Criteria

Hides and reveals the criteria used in the condition of the Global Find. Hiding the criteria increases the space used to show the results of the Find.

Grid Customization ( )

Opens the Grid Customization window for customizing the information displayed in Find Results when the find results are displayed as Documents (Form View or List View).

Documents Tab

One of two views for Find results (the other being Digital Resources). The Documents Tab shows find results in a List View (record fields displayed for results) or Form View (record fields and forms displayed for results).

Form View ( )

A type of Documents view that shows results in a split-pane view with record fields displayed on the left and a form displayed on the right. Fields shown in the record fields pane can be customized by using the Grid Customization tool ( ).

List View ( )

A type of Documents view that shows record fields for all results.

Results List Pane

Displays record fields for find results.

Save Grid Customization ( )

Saves the currently used grid customization to the global find.

Form Display Pane

Displays result information in a selected form.

Zoom ( )

Increases the magnification of the form used to display results.

Zoom Out ( )

Decreases the magnification of the form used to display results.

Digital Resources Tab

One of two views for Find results (the other being the Documents view). This shows find results as digital resource thumbnails.
