Notification Box Window

Tools-> Notification Box

The Notification Box window provides an easy and intuitive way to read, manage, and forward notifications directed to you and generated on your behalf.

Window Objects

Click to see a detailed description of the window.

 

User Name

Displays the name of the user whose Notification Box is displayed. All users of the system have their own notification box.

In Box

Displays the contents of the In Box.

Out Box

Displays the contents of the Out Box. Notifications in the Out Box are notifications that have been generated on behalf of the current user.

Inbox History

Displays notifications that have been marked as Viewed and removed from the Notifications In Box.

Outbox History

Displays notifications once they have been viewed by all recipients. Until a notification has been viewed by all recipients, it will remain in the Out Box.

Forward

Forwards the notification to other users or groups.

Remove Viewed

Removes notifications that have been viewed in the In Box.

Remove

Removes the selected notification from the In Box.

Notification Details: Status

Indicates the status of the notification. Status can be either New or Viewed.

All new notifications are arrive in the Inbox with a status of New. To change the status to viewed, click the icon.

Notification Details: Date

Indicates the date that the notification was sent.

Notification Details: Time

Indicates the time that the notification was sent.

Notification Details: Type

Indicates the type of object for which the notification was sent (Retrieval Request or Digital Resource).

Notification Details: ID

Indicates the unique identifier of the object (Retrieval Request or Digital Resource) for which the notification was generated.

Notification Details: Event Name

Indicates the Event Name that generated the notification. For manually generated notifications, this is a user definable detail.

Notification Details: Sender

Indicates the user who is responsible for sending or generating the notification.

Message

Displays any message content in the notification.

Filter

Filters the Notifications in the In History and Out History Tabs.

Note: This button only appears in the In History and Out History views.

Procedures

To view the retrieval request associated with a notification:

  1. Double-Click the notification in the Notification Box. The Retrieval Request form associated with that notification will open.

To change the status of a notification from unseen to viewed:

  1. Click the envelope in the left hand column. When the envelope is closed, its status is unseen. When the envelope is open, its status is viewed.

To Forward a notification to another user:

  1. Select the notification.
  2. Click Forward. The Notification Users window will open.
  3. Select the users and/or groups you want to forward the notification to.
  4. Click OK. The notification will be forwarded to the selected users.

To see the status of notifications sent to other users:

  1. Click the Out Box or Out History tab.
  2. Double-click a notification. The Notification Targets window will open, allowing you to see both pending and acknowledged notifications.

To filter the In History or Out History:

  1. Click Filter. The History Filter window will open.
  2. Type the number of past days for which you wish to view notifications.
  3. Click OK. The notification list will only show those notifications that fall within the date range defined in the History Filter window.
