The Notification Box is used by DSM to display user notifications. There are two types of notifications used in the DSM system:
Notifications are automatically generated in two situations:
When a user generates a Retrieval Request: A Notification is sent to the Archivist.
When a Retrieval Request status changes: Notification is sent to the user who requested that the files/folders be retrieved.
These notifications are automatically generated and can be viewed in the Notification Box window.
If the recipient of a Notification is logged into DSM at the time the Notification is generated, a Notification Indicator alerting him/her to the presence of a new Notification in their Notification Box will appear on the DSM icon in the system dock.
Manual Notifications can be generated when updating digital resource information in Forms by using the ALT+Click Update combination. This will open the Send Notification window which allows you to assign recipients and compose a message for the Notification.
