Installation Overview

The Image Portal Web Server is available for installation by licensed purchasers of Digital Storage Manager and Virtual Ticket with Digital Storage Manager. The imagePortal.exe installer is available for download at the http://www.meta-comm.com/customers/ website.

Once you have installed the Image Portal Web Server, follow the Web Server Configuration steps described in “Configuring the Image Portal Web Server”.

Installing the Image Portal Web Server

1. Double-click the ImagePortal.exe file on the Windows Server computer on which you wish to install the Web Server. This will open the Image Portal Password window.

2. Type the Image Portal installation password in the Password field. Click Continue when done. The Installer application will unpack and the Welcome window will open.

Note: The Image Portal Server Installer application (ServerInstaller.exe) is designed to run on Windows 2000/2003 Server computers.

3. Click Next to start the installation. The System Requirements window will open.

Note: Image Portal Server components will not be installed if you do not accept the EULA.

The installer will check to see that the computer meets the minimum requirements for installing the Image Portal web server and will display the System Requirements window.

Entries marked with a green check mark indicate that the computer meets a requirement. Entries marked with a red X indicate that the computer does not meet the minimum requirement.

4. If your computer meets all the requirements, continue to the next step of this procedure. The Web Site Selection window will open. If your computer does not meet the minimum requirements, Exit the installer and re-attempt to install the web server when the computer is upgraded to meet the requirements OR attempt to install the Web Server on another computer that meets the requirements.

If you click Next to proceed with the installation, the Web Site to Install window will open.

5. Select the web site you want to install Image Portal on, then click Next. If this is the first installation, the Image Portal web server will be installed and the Permissions window will open. You can jump ahead to Step 6 of this procedure. If Image Portal has previously been installed on this machine, the Installation Options window will open.

6. Review the Install Options window and select an install option:

Overwrite All ( ) - The current Image Portal installation is completely replaced. All configuration settings, skins, and user files will be lost. When selected, the Installing Application window will open, displaying the progress of the installation. When completed, the Security Permissions Window will appear.

Update ( ) - Current skins will be backed up, all files except configuration and user files will be re-installed/updated. When selected, the Installing Application window will open, displaying the progress of the update. When completed, the Security Permissions Window will appear.

Reset Settings ( ) - No files will be installed, but IIS settings related to Image Portal will be reset. When selected, the Installing Application window will open, displaying the progress of the Image Portal reset. When completed, the Security Permissions Window will appear.

Cancel ( ) - No files will be installed. If selected, a close window confirmation window will appear. If accepted, the Image Portal Installer will close.

7. S*elect the method for setting security permissions* you would like to use and click Next:

Automatically: The installer attempts to set the required file system security permissions for Image Portal. If selected, the installer will set the security permissions and display the installation Complete window.

Manually: The installer does not set any file system security permissions for Image Portal.

8. Optional: If you would like to display the MetaCommunications Image Portal Diagnostics, click the first hyperlink. The Image Portal Diagnostics page will open. Please refer to the “Image Portal Diagnostics” section in Chapter 3 of this guide for more information.
9. Optional: If you would like to display the MetaCommunications Image Portal Configuration Page now, click the second hyperlink. The Image Portal Configuration Page will open. Please refer to “Chapter 3: Configuring the Image Portal Web Server” for more information.
10. Click Finish. The Image Portal Installer will close. Please refer to “Chapter 3: Configuring the Image Portal Web Server”for information on how to configure Image Portal.
