Managing and Monitoring the InterSync Services
InterSync’s synchronization and cataloging capabilities are important components of the DSM system. InterSync can be used alongside other DSM methods for cataloging digital resources, including dragging-and-dropping digital resources onto the File Board or file collector fields in forms.
Important! Although manual cataloging of files and folders can be also performed (by dragging-and-dropping folders/files into DSM), it is strongly recommended that you rely on InterSync to add digital resource records and maintain them up-to-date.
This chapter provides you with the instructions and knowledge for managing the services that make up the InterSync technology. These services monitor the digital resources (files and folders) stored on your file servers and allow you to automate the way changes to these digital resources are reflected in the DSM system.
The DSM system includes the MetaCommunications Management Console administrative tool, which allows you to set up InterSync and monitor various aspects of its activity. For an overview of the Management Console, refer to the “Administrative Tools” section of this guide.
The MetaCommunications Management Console may be launched from the Programs:MetaCommunications folder of the Start menu.
Note: The MetaCommunications Management Console is implemented as a set of program modules written in Dynamic HTML and JavaScript and requires JScript Engine version 5.5 or greater (found in Internet Explorer 5.5+ or Microsoft Windows Scripting Host 5.6+). Also, make sure that the following components are installed and running: Microsoft SQL Server database software and one or more DSM databases (refer to the DSM Installation Guide for detailed instructions).
