Managing DSM Databases and Monitoring Processes

This chapter covers different aspects of managing DSM databases including backing up and restoring databases, creating database maintenance plans, and managing SQL Sever Agent jobs.

The DSM system provides the MetaCommunications Management Console tool that allows you to perform the basic administrative tasks mentioned above. For an overview of the Management Console, refer to the “Administrative Tools” section of this guide.

Note: The MetaCommunications Management Console is implemented as a set of program modules written in Dynamic HTML and JavaScript and requires JScript Engine version 5.5 or greater (found in Internet Explorer 5.5+ or Microsoft Windows Scripting Host 5.6+). Also, make sure that the following components are installed and running: Microsoft SQL Server database software and one or more DSM databases (refer to the Server Installation Guide for detailed installation instructions).
