Enabling the Retrospect Helper

Enabling the Retrospect Helper

The Retrospect Helper is available for both Tape and CD/DVD Media Types. It can be used to simplify both the authoring of media and the retrieval of media authored by Retrospect. This helper application needs to be enabled for Archive and Retrieve operations of both Tape and CD/DVD media types before it will become available to users of the Digital Storage Manager client.

When used for Archiving to CD/DVD or Tape media, this helper application will create a text file with the appropriate archiving path names formatted in a manner suitable for Retrospect. The information can be copied from this file and pasted into Retrospect to author the media. When used for Retrieving, this Helper Application will create a similar text file with suitably formatted media paths that can be copied and pasted into Retrospect to help simplify the restore operation.

This Helper Application needs to be enabled before it will become available to users of the Digital Storage Manager client for Mac OS X.

Reminder: This Helper can be used for both Archiving and Retrieving from both Tape and CD/DVD. In order to be used, the Retrospect Helper for archiving and/or retrieving must be enabled for both Tape and/or CD/DVD Media Types.
