Opens a file browser for navigating to and selecting files/folders/volumes which you would like to catalog and create digital resources for. This is an alternative method to dragging and dropping into the Drop Zone to add digital resources. | |
Clears the contents of the Cataloging window. This does not delete any information from either the database or the file system. | |

This allows you to select in which form you want to display the digital resource in. This selector is inactive in the screen capture because no digital resources have been selected. | |
Allows you to edit the information displayed in a form for the selected digital resource. This button is inactive in the screen capture because no digital resources have been selected. | |

The area onto which you can drop files or folders. This is an alternative method to using the Add button to add digital resources. | |
Once digital resources have been added, this pane displays digital resource information in the selected form. This pane is empty in the screen capture because no digital resources have been added. |
To add a file, folder, or volume by browsing:
- Click Add.
- Navigate to the file, folder, or volume you want to add digital resources for.
- Click Choose when you have selected the file or folders you want to add digital resources for. The digital resources will be added and the Drop Zone will change to a navigation pane.
To add a file or folder to the catalog by dragging and dropping:
- Drag and drop the file/folder from a Finder window into the Drop Zone of the Catalog window.
- Select Add in the popup menu. The digital resource will be added to the database and displayed in the Drop Area.
To look up a digital resource corresponding to a file/folder/volume in the database:
- Drag and drop the file/folder/volume from a file browser window into the drop area of the Catalog window.
- Select Lookup in the popup menu. Digital Storage Manager will check the database to see if the digital resource already exists. Files for which digital resources already exist in the database will be displayed in the drop area. If a file with the same name and path does not exist in the database, Digital Storage Manager will display the following window:
To delete a cataloged digital resource from the database:
- Click the digital resource you wish to delete.
- Click Delete and Yes in the delete confirmation window. The digital resource will be deleted from the database.
