Context Menu

The Virtual Ticket DeveloperDigital Storage Manager client makes use of a context menu in many of its windows. The Context Menu allows you to many tasks that may not be available through standard window buttons and menus.

Accessing the Context Menu

To access the Context Menu, select an object in Virtual Ticket DeveloperDigital Storage Manager and use the CTRL+Click command or click the Context Menu button displayed in some windows:

Context Menu Commands

This menu is called a context menu because it changes according to the context in which it is opened. This context is determined by the objects that are selected when it is opened. The context is used to determine what commands appear in the menu. In places where a certain command is not allowed, that command will be inactive or will not appear in the menu.

Below is a list of all commands that can appear in the Context Menu. The “->” convention is used to indicate a submenu.

 

Add From File System

Opens a Finder window, allowing you to select files to add to the database.

Archive...

Opens the Archive Options Window for archiving the files and folders associated with the selected digital resources.

Copy/Retrieve

Opens either the Move - Choose Destination Window or the Retrieval Options Window for copying and retrieving files associated with the selected digital resources.

Move

Opens the Move - Choose Destination Window for moving files associated with the selected digital resources.

Update

Opens the Update File Information Window, which is used to force the client to scan the file system for files and folders not represented in the database. Files/Folders not represented in the database will be added. Likewise, files/folders that exist in the database but not in the file system will be removed from the database.

Delete from Database

Deletes the Digital Resource from the database. If the digital resource resides in a location monitored by InterSync, the deleted Digital Resource(s) will be added to the database again the next time the location is scanned by InterSync.

Rename

Opens the Rename Offline Folder window for renaming folders.

Find -> Files in this location

Opens a Context Find for finding files in the current location.

Note: Only Finds saved with the “Show in context find” checkbox enabled will appear in this menu.

 

Find -> Other

Any additional Context Finds defined by the Administrator or currently logged in user will appear here.

View -> Properties

Opens the Properties Window for the selected digital resources.

View -> Preview

Opens the Preview Window for the selected digital resources.

View -> History

Opens the History Window for the selected digital resource or retrieval request.

Open-> File/Folders

Opens the files or folders using the application selected as the default for that file type. Folders open in Finder.

Reveal in File System

Opens a Finder window with focus on the selected object or parent folders. Also, a Mount Volume option may appear in some contexts.

Open in New File Board

Opens the selected digital resource in a new File Board.

Open in Browser

Opens the selected digital resource in a new Virtual Ticket Browser window.

Explore

Opens the selected digital resource in Digital Resource Explorer.

Note: This feature is available only for Virtual Ticket Developer systems using the DSM Extension.

 

Explore as Root(s)

Opens the selected object in Digital Resource Explorer with the view restricted to the parent folder and all subfolders.

Note: This feature is available only for Virtual Ticket Developer systems using the DSM Extension.

 

Attach

Allows you to attach a document to selected records. See Attaching Documents To Digital Resources, Attaching Documents To A Folder Record, and Attaching Documents To Search Results for more information.

Modify

Allows you to modify information for the selected records. See Modifying Digital Resource Information and Modifying Search Results for more information.

Delete from Database

Deletes the selected objects from the database.

Customize Grid

Opens the Grid Customization Window for customizing the grid display.

New-> Folder

Creates a new folder beneath the selected folder.

New-> New Job Folder

Opens a New Job Form for creating a new Job.

Remove Selected

Removes selected digital resources from a File Collector or File Board without deleting them from the database.

Remove All

Removes all digital resources from a File Collector or File Board without deleting them from the database.
