Updating Digital Resources

Updating Digital Resources

Virtual Ticket Developer provides an update tool that allows you to update the digital resource information stored in the database to correspond with the physical files and folders stored in your file system. This tool may also be used to update information such as the thumbnail image, file size, modified date/time, etc. This tool may also be used if the physical files or folders referenced by digital resources have been moved outside of the Virtual Ticket Developer environment.

Updating digital resources

1. Select the digital resource(s) you want to update. Digital resources may be accessed through the File Board window, through a file collector field on a form in the Browser window, or through a search result.

2. Select Update from the Tools Menu ( ) to update information about the digital resource(s). A dialog box will appear, allowing you to select the parameters you want Virtual Ticket Developer to use when updating the digital resource(s). (See “Updating File Information” for more information.)

3. Select the appropriate update parameters for the digital resource(s) and click OK ( ). Update parameters include:

File Paths - This option allows you to update the digital resource file path information for either all files or only for missing files. By default, Virtual Ticket Developer will update the file paths for missing files.

Thumbnails/Extended Previews - This option allows you to update the thumbnail images and extended previews for all files, only for files that have changed, or for none of the files (skip all). By default, Virtual Ticket Developer will update the thumbnails/extended previews for all files.

Linked Files - This option allows you to include or skip updating of any linked files that have been placed within the digital resource(s) that is being updated.

On Error - This option allows you to instruct Virtual Ticket Developer how to notify you if there is an error while updating the digital resource to the database.

Synchronize (for folders only) - This option allows you to add digital resources to and delete digital resources from the database based on their addition or deletion from the physical file folder in your file system.

At this point, the digital resource information in the Virtual Ticket Developer database has been updated to match the information about the file in your file system.
