Finds can be saved (and designed) in three different modes. Since the selected mode will affect how the Finds work and are displayed when opened, all users should have a basic understanding of various Find Modes and what they do.
The three available Find Modes are: Design, Normal, or Runtime. The selected mode will limit the amount of interaction available to the user working with a the Find.
Design Mode – This mode is generally used during the setup and administration of the Find and allows you to specify (with a check box) which field search criteria will be visible when the Find is saved and consequently opened in Runtime mode. Search criteria that remain unchecked (i.e. visible) will be editable when the Find is used. Search criteria that are checked will be invisible in Runtime mode but will be included in the overall search when the Find is executed. The following capture shows the visibility selection in Design mode and the resulting display in Runtime mode.
Normal Mode – This mode is used by default and allows you to view each field search criterion defined for the Find. You will be able to edit each search criterion when using the Find.
Runtime Mode – This mode is often used for Finds and displays only the search criteria that were left unchecked when the Find was formatted in Design mode. Each search criterion that remains unchecked (i.e. visible) will be editable when the Find is used. If all field search criteria have been checked (i.e. made invisible), Virtual Ticket Developer will automatically run the Find when it is accessed.
