Approval Manager is designed to streamline the reviewing process by providing easy access to the files under review. The following proofers are directly supported by Approval Manager.

Spark!

Spark! is the optional web-based proofing tool available exclusively for Approval Manager. Because Spark! runs completely in the browser and doesn't require installation or training to use, you can circulate your proofs to your reviewers with the assurance that they will be able to view, annotate, comment, and set review statuses for your proofs entirely within their web browsers.

Spark! supports a constantly growing selection of file types, including:

• bmml (Support for Balsamiq Mockups requires additional configuration)
• bmp
• gif
• jpg
• pdf
• png
• tif
• ai (Adobe Illustrator)

The list of supported file types is constantly growing. You can request support for additional file types by posting to the Enhancement Requests forum on the MetaCommunications Developer Center.

Adobe Reader

For users with access to Adobe Reader, PDF files that have been saved to allow commenting can be opened in Adobe Reader and commented on. Synchronization is performed by saving the PDF locally and then uploading the commented PDF back to Approval Manager as a comment file.

Note: To allow commenting with Adobe Reader, the PDF must be saved in Acrobat Professional with commenting enabled prior to being uploaded to Approval Manager.

Acrobat Standard or Professional

For users with access to Acrobat Standard or Professional, PDF files can be opened in Acrobat Standard or Professional and commented on. Synchronization with Approval Manager ensures that comments are available to other users of Approval Manager. Proof approval is conducted in Approval Manager.

Dalim DiALOGUE

Approval Manager now has built-in support for the Dalim DiALOGUE proofer. This is an ideal solution for customers who want hi-resolution, color-accurate proofing integrated into Approval Manager's review workflow and management system.

Native Proofer

Native Proofer provides users with the ability to open files with the supported native application for the file type. When using a native application for reviewing files, support for annotation and approval status syncing with Approval Manager is limited. Even if the native application supports such features, they will not be synced with Approval Manager. When working with native applications for proofing files, the approval status should be set and comments should be made within Approval Manager.

If you have a need to use another application to review your files, you can do so by having the administrator set the proofing application for the relevant file types to "Native". See Proofer File Type Associations for more information.
