Spark! contains numerous tools and features to help you get the most out of your reviews. If you are new to Spark!, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the tools and features available to you during your review. You can always return here if you need help on how to use them.
Procedures
Viewing Comments
Click the Comments tab in the right sidebar. Comments and their text will be listed. (see image right) Clicking on a comment will highlight the corresponding icon (arrow, box, comment bubble) in the image.
OR
Double-click a comment icon, arrow, or box drawn on the proof. The comment text will open in a comment dialogue over the image (see image below).
Viewing Review Statuses
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the Review Status tab in the right sidebar. Review statuses for all users will are displayed (see image right).
Review statuses are displayed for the current stage only.
Viewing Previous Versions of a Proof
Locate the tab for the previous version you want to view. Previous version tabs are indicated to the right of the tab for the current round.
Rest your mouse pointer over the tab to see a thumbnail of the previous version proof (see image below).
Click the tab to open the previous version.
Filtering Comments and Annotations
Use the Annotations Filter drop-down in the Spark! toolbar to select which annotations you want to see. Depending on your selection, comments and annotations will appear and disappear from both the proof image and the comments tab in Spark!
Navigating back to Approval Manager from Spark!
Use the Go To menu (see above) to open Approval Manager in a new browser window.
Destinations will open in a new browser window.
Adding comments to a proof

Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the comment tool (see image above), then click an area in the document where you wish to place your comment. A yellow comment box will appear.
Type your comment. Unless deleted by you, comments will be visible to you and to other users of Approval Manager.
Visibility of comments by other users may be further restricted depending on whether or not it is a private or public review.
Drawing boxes on a proof
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the Box tool in the Spark! toolbar.
Draw a box around an area in your document by clicking, dragging, then releasing your left mouse button. The box will appear in the proof and a comment box will open.
Type your comment. Unless deleted by you, comments will be visible to you and to other users of Approval Manager.
Visibility of comments by other users may be further restricted depending on whether or not it is a private or public review.
Measuring distance in a proof
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the Box Measurement tool in the Spark! toolbar.
Drag the mouse between two points in your document.
The measurement display will show you distance and angle of the measurement.
Units of measurement can be changed between inches, centimeters and pixels by clicking the units indicator in the measurement display.
Rotating a proof
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the Rotate Left (counter-clockwise)and Rotate Right (clockwise) buttons to rotate the document by 90 degree increments.
Zooming in/out on a proof
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Use the standard zoom tools on the Spark! Toolbar to zoom in and out of your document.
Spark! has a maximum zoom level of 6000%
Downloading the original proof document from Spark!
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the Download button in the Spark! toolbar. Depending on your browser, operating system, and installed browser plug-ins, you may be promted for permission to download the file, it may open in a new browser window, or it may even open in a native application for that file type.
This downloads the original file. No comments or annotations are included in the download.
Downloading the Spark! document as a PDF with comments
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Use the dropdown list to select the scope of comments and annotations you would like to include in the export PDF.
Click the Export button. Depending on your browser, operating system, and browser plug-ins, you may be prompted for permission to download the PDF, it may download automatically, or the PDF may open in another browser window.
Opening Spark! tabs in new windows
Click the Open in New Window icon in the upper right corner of any Spark! tab. The Spark! tab will open in its own browser window.
Adding a Manager's Note via Spark! (Proof Managers Only)
You must be the manager of a proof to add a Manager's Note.
Open the proof in Spark! if it is not already open.
Click the yellow "Manager's Note" bar above the Spark! Toolbar. A Manager's Note dialog will open. toolbar when you are a Manager of a proof. Clicking it allows you to add a note to the proof.,title=Proof Manager's Can Easily Add Notes to Reviews Via Spark!,vspace="12",border=1!
Type and Save your note. Your Manager's Note will now be visible to other reviewers when they open this document in Spark!
