Document Types ( ) are entities that come predefined with Virtual Ticket Developer or are created by the Administrator. Document Types can be defined for each Folder Type or Group created within a Folder Type. The purpose of Document Types is to serve as a template for the different Document Records that will be stored in Virtual Ticket Developer Folder Records. In this sense, the relationship of Document Types to Document Records is similar to the relationship between Folder Types to Folder Records.

The use of Document Types by the general Virtual Ticket Developer user is rather limited. Most of the interaction with Document Types by the user is relegated to selecting the Document Type for the specific Document Record they want to open, search for, add to the system, or otherwise work with.

When Document Types are created, they are populated with various database fields. These fields are then replicated in the Document Records and used to store the document information.
