Starting, Stopping, Pausing, Resuming and Restarting the File System Service

Starting, Stopping, Pausing, Resuming and Restarting the File System Service

By default, the File System Service is set to start automatically when the Windows operating system starts up. However, it may be desirable to start, stop, pause, resume and/or restart the service manually. This can be done using either the Services snap-in or the File System Service Snap-in of the MetaCommunications console.

Starting, stopping, pausing, resuming or restarting the File System Service using the File System Service Snap-in

  1. Expand “MetaCommunications Services” in the tree portion of the MetaCommunications console, right-click the <Server_Name>.File System Service sub-tree, and select Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, or Restart in the context menu. You may also click <Server_Name>.File System Service and click the appropriate button in the toolbar ( - Start/Resume, - Stop, - Pause, - Restart).

Starting, stopping, pausing, resuming or restarting the File System Service using the Services Snap-in

  1. Click “Services” in the tree portion of the MetaCommunications console. A list of the services installed on the computer will be displayed on the console.
  2. Right-click “MetaCommunications File System Service” in the list of services, and select Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, or Restart. You may also select “MetaCommunications File System Service” and click the appropriate button in the toolbar ( - Start/Resume, - Stop, - Pause, - Restart).
