Volumes are the shared file directories referenced within the Digital Storage Manager or Virtual Ticket with Digital Storage Manager database that contain the physical files or digital resources. In some cases, these file directories exist at multiple locations (i.e. on multiple CD volumes, across multiple file servers, etc.). The Image Portal Web Server allows you to map these file directories in the system, telling the web server where to locate the directories and allowing users to download files that reside within these directories.
Volumes must be mapped to a logical hard drive or network location so that end users can download the files. This mapping instructs the web server of the proper location of the files within the Windows Server operating environment.
1. Click ADMINISTRATION from the top navigation bar. This will display the Users page, showing a list of the user accounts that are currently defined in the system.
2. Click VOLUMES. The Volume Mapping web page will appear, showing a list of all volumes known to the Digital Storage Manager or Virtual Ticket with Digital Storage Manager system and the physical locations to which they are mapped.
3. Select SMB or AFP as the method you want to use in accessing a specific root file directory. If you do not want to provide download access to the files stored in a particular file directory, select N/A.
4. Type the location to which you wish to map the volume within the Mapped to field. Use the following format:
“\\<Server_Name>\<Share_Name>” for SMB access method
“<Server_Name>:<Share_Name>” for AFP access method
5. For each root directory, type the username and password that the web server will use to access physical folders/files.
6. Click TEST to test the volume mapping settings for the specific root file directory. If the volume mapping test is successful, the specific file directory becomes accessible through the Image Portal Web Server. If the test fails, you may need to adjust settings for the file directory.
7. To save the volume mapping settings defined for each file directory listed within the window, select SAVE. By clicking CANCEL you will discard all changes made to the Volumes page.
