Configuring the InterSync MetaData Service
The MetaData Service is managed using the MetaData Service Snap-in in the MetaCommunications Management Console.
Note: The MetaData Service Snap-in is used to configure the InterSync MetaData Service. If you do not use InterSync, you do not need to read this chapter of the guide.
Configuring the InterSync MetaData Service Snap-in involves:
Setting processor control, recovery, memory usage, and thumbnailing parameters for the service.
Attaching the databases for which the service will obtain digital resource file metadata (including thumbnails and extended previews).
Configuring the service for each database by specifying options, and by managing the database’s volumes list.
After the appropriate databases have been attached and the service configured, the MetaData Service will start updating the digital resource records corresponding to added and modified digital resources with up-to-date file metadata, thumbnails, extended previews. Additionally, classification and association of digital resources will begin.
