As part of the server component of all MetaCommunications’ products, the Application Server plays a vital role in providing access to information stored on the system database (served by Microsoft SQL Server). The Application Server handles all licensing for the system, allows you to create database links that point to separate databases, and performs many of the functions for storing information in and retrieving information from the database. In order to fully understand how the Application Server operates, it is important to first review the elements that the Application Server uses to fulfill its role within the system.
